The city of Bihac is located in the northwestern part of BiH, administratively belongs to the entity of F BiH and is the seat of the KJA. According to the latest census, the city of Bihac has a population of 61,564. The area of the City is 900 km², accounting for 21.8% of USK territory and 1.7% of BiH. The City of Bihac consists of 35 local communities which serve as a liaison between the City Administration, that is, the Mayor and citizens.
The geo-traffic position of the City of Bihać is extremely favorable, since the City is located along the main corridors of Western Europe-Mediterranean-Middle East.
A number of international and highway routes link the area of the City of Bihać, connecting this area with the wider environment. The town of Bihac is located directly along the border with the Republic of Croatia, and the realization of a very important road that will run diagonally from Bihac to Sarajevo, which will not connect Western Europe with the Middle East, will have a positive effect on the existing, very favorable geo-traffic position.

The relief in the area of the City of Bihać is diverse. It is made up mostly of fields, hills and mid-mountainous land. The average altitude is 2247 meters, the greater part of the territory of the City is located on terrains up to 600m.nv, while its smaller part is located in the lanes and hills with an altitude of over 900 meters.
The area of the City of Bihać has a moderate mountain type of climate, which is diverse due to the influence of air masses from neighboring and further areas. Summers are warm and dry, winters cold with lots of rainfall. The annual average rainfall is 13271 / m² and the average monthly temperature is 10.8 ˚C. Taken as a whole, the climate of the City of Bihać is favorable. It is characterized by moderate humidity, moderate temperatures, considerable sunshine and no strong storm winds, which is conducive to the development of food production, tourism, sports, recreation and the like.
The natural resources underlying the economic development of the City are:
- Forest resources with a total area of 52,527 hectares, which makes it an important predisposition for the development of the wood processing industry as well as for a wide range of other entrepreneurial activities, primarily tourism and tourism.
- Agricultural land covers 27,262 hectares of which 19,773 hectares is private and 7,471 hectares of state land. Along with a distinctly agricultural area, the development of agricultural production is also favored by a long tradition of engaging in this activity and favorable climatic conditions.
- Hydropower potentials and thermal mineral waters in the Gata settlement not far from Bihać. These resources provide a very valuable basis for using the aforementioned potentials for the production of energy from renewable energy through alternative sources, for supplying the needs of the population and industry, as well as for quality opportunities for the development of economy / agriculture / and tourism.
- Natural beauties and the National Park "Una" represent quality bases for the development of tourism and the tourist economy.
Mineral raw materials and non-metals of which there are deposits of gypsum, dolomite, limestone, architectural and construction stone of bihacite in the area of the City of Bihać. This makes the area of the City, by its geological structure, a promising and significant base for the exploration and exploitation of mineral resources.
